As evening falls, the city lights flicker on one by one. People are out for a stroll; some are walking their dogs. Some walk dogs to share precious moments with their beloved pets, while others do so because it is a requirement of their job.
If you are willing to slow your pace, you might hear voices that usually go unnoticed.
Walk through Her Everyday Life: Stories Told by Migrant Workers Who Walk Their Boss’s Dogs is an immersive audio walking experience held in public spaces. We’ve invited migrant domestic workers in Taiwan to record and share their experiences of caring for their employers’ pets—even though, by regulation, pet care actually falls outside the legal scope of work for domestic caregivers.
Some are afraid of dogs yet must take them out every day; others project the longing they feel for their own children onto the animals in front of them. These fragments of storytelling reflect both the reality of their labor environment and the complex emotions of working in a foreign land. Participants will put on headphones and wander freely through the city at night, listening to these authentic stories while holding a "strange" balloon. This simple, everyday object carries floating aspirations and the quiet resilience of life.
No reservation is required; how long you stay is entirely up to you. We invite you to join us on these familiar streets to listen to the everyday lives that have long existed, yet are seldom heard.
